First position start date will be July 22nd
Second position start date will be August 10th

2 - 3 days a week (approximately 3 hours per day)
Starting time is anywhere between 3:00 – 4:00

Student must be at least 16 years of age, younger students may be considered if they get a workers permit

Duties – doing laboratory dishes and minimal laboratory work
Starting pay - $8.00/hr

Erin O'Shea and Enyi Okebugwu were two of Mr. Zerante's guests at the annual A.P. Chemistry Dinner. Each year Mr. Zerante takes all of the students who scored a 3, 4, or 5 on the A.P. Chemistry exam out to dinner.

The mercury level is 80.0 mm higher in the arm of the tube connected to the gas (so it's below atmospheric pressure). Atmospheric pressure is 750. mmHg. What is the pressure of the hydrogen in kilopascals? Ans: 670 mmHg

The best way to learn the names and symbols of the 44 elements assigned in class is to make flash-cards. Go to your class materials page at k12web and download a copy of the "Element Grid." You can cut out squares with the names already printed and add the symbol to the back. Then go through the cards every day until the exam and you should know them.

The following are a few humerous students answers for question 3 on Lab 1. It asked how you could find the volume of a rock using a graduate, some water, and a rock. The author of each is not identified--if its you, don't worry, it dosen't make you a bad person.

Answer 1:

A student could find the volume of a rock by weighing the rock, then weighing enough water plus the graduate weight to equal the weight of the rock. Which will tell you how much space the rock takes up.

Answer 2:

Putting the rock in the cylinder and adding the water will give a measurement on the cylinder.

Answer 3:

You put a certain amount of water into a graduated cylinder and measure the volume (meniscus). Get a second graduated cylinder and pour same amount of water as first one, then add the rock from volume of water with rock. That will give you the volume with rock. This is known as the Water Displacement Theory.
